Notice of race
1 - Organization
The Société Nautique de la Trinité-sur-mer, in conjunction with OUEST-FRANCE, is organizing the Spi Ouest-FRANCE – Intermarché from 5th to 9th of April 2012, under the authority of the Fédération Française de Voile.
2 - Rules
The regatta will be governed by:
- Rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing
- National prescriptions for foreign competitors are defined in joined appendix 1“prescription”
- Federation regulations
- It is the sole responsibility of each boat owner or skipper to ensure that his boat complies with the safety and equipment regulations of his National authority
- The J80 class rule C4.2 is modified as follows: The crew list, in particular specifying the days on which each crew member will be on board, shall be submitted to the Race Office at least 2 hours before the first warning signal on the first day of the regatta.
- Official language of the regatta will be French. In the event of conflict in the translation the French text shall prevail
3 - Advertising
In accordance with ISAF Regulation 20 (Advertising Code) as modified by the Advertising regulation of the FFVoile, boats may be required to display the advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority.
4 - Eligibility

Boats eligible to compete in the Spi Ouest-France shall be monohulls.
- IRC measurement, with a minimum TTC of 0,850. The minimum overall length authorized is 7 meters.
- One design ISAF Recognized class or FFV Recognized class, with a minimum overall length of 6.50 m. At least 10 boats are required to constitute a one design series. If such number is not achieved, boats will compete in IRC.
- Boats not equipped with lifelines will not be allowed, unless authorized by their class rules.
Boats of the classes Open 5.70, class 6.5, Open 7.50 and Longtze are exceptionally authorized to compete as one design classes. If the minimum number is not achieved by end of registration (25th march), they will not be authorized to compete in IRC. A certificate of participation to in winter trainings delivered by the organizing club shall be provided. No registration will be accepted without such document.
- Each boat shall have a crew composed of at least 3 members. The crew shall respect class rules.
- A sail number conforming with the requirements of respective measurement rules is compulsory for each boat.
5 - Fleet spliting and course
- The number of boats registered in each category will determine the allocation of boats to one of the 3 race areas of the 2012 event (see location and size of areas on the map of Quiberon).
- Courses will be, windward/leeward with one or two laps, or coastal courses.
- If there are more than 85 boats registered in a category, the fleet may be split into two groups.
6 - Registration

- Registration documents shall be sent to SNT by the 25th of March. Late entry entries received after this deadline will be subject to a 40€ penalty. Each participant will receive a numbered acknowledgement of receipt (maximum number of entries limited to 500).
- Registrations (above 500) will constitute a waiting list in case of cancellation. Skippers on the waiting list will be notified by mail, as well as of their registration in case of cancellation of another entry.
- In case of entry cancellation by the 25th of March (except for waiting list), the sum of 50 € will be kept retained by the organization for administrative expenses. After the 7th of April, the entry fee will not be refunded.
- The organisers reserve the right to, in exceptional circumstances, cancel the event. Such cancellation in exceptional circumstances, and outside the control of the organisers, shall not be grounds for claiming any refund or seeking any damages. This action maybe caused for the following reasons, exceptional meteorological conditions, armed conflict, requisitions, fires, floods, strikes, or blockades which would be outside the control of the organisers. This list is not limitative.
7 - Registration documents
- Original entry form to be completed on both sides
- Entry fees in Euros (n° and bank transfer authorization, or cheque in euros drawn from a bank in France only). Registration without entry fees will automatically be rejected.
- 2 stamps (standard rate) or for foreign post, international voucher with same value.
- 2012 Class membership certificate for all one designs (FFV or ISAF recognised class)
- 2012 IRC Measurement Certificate supplied before the 18th of April for all other boats (and for any one design if less than 10 boats are registered).
- A valid Insurance certificate for the boat.
- 2012 valid licence for French competitors (medical stamp or certificate, and parental authorization for minors).
- Foreign competitors competing on French or foreign boats shall show a document certifying their membership to a MNA. They shall show a third party liability insurance with a minimum amount of 1,5 millions Euros. If not, they will have the opportunity to buy at the organizing club a third party liability insurance for the regatta.
- For any French boat, the first page of the French certificate. Foreign boats shall comply with their national regulations.
- A valid authorization to display advertising on boat, if necessary.
8 - Entry Fees (including 8 € for SNSM)
- Less than 8 m : 245€
- From 8m to 8,99 m : 270€
- from 9 m to 9,99 m : 305€
- from 10 m to 10,99 m : 345€
- from 11 m to 11,99 m : 405€
- from 12 m to 12,99 m : 455€
- 13 m and above : 530€
9 - Sailing instructions
The sailing instructions will be available on Thursday April 5th.
10 - Penality system
- For the Open 5.70, Class 6.5, Open 7.50 and Longtze, rule 44.1 is changed so that the two-turn penalty is replaced by the One-turn Penalty.
- Alternative penalties for breaches of rules other than those in part 2
After hearing, a breach to rules other than 28 and 31 and to rules of part 2 may be sanctioned by a penalty ranging from 10% of the number of boats registered to disqualification.
- On-the-water judging may be applied, the details of which will be described in the Sailing Instructions.
11 - Scoring
Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
12 - Haul-Out restrictions
Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee.
13 - Radio Communication
Except in case of emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
14 - Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the first boat in each class.
15 - Disclaimer of liability
- Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
- Should the Harbour Authority so decide, the Race Organization may ask competitors to be ready to set out for another harbour in the Bay. There shall be sufficient crew on board permanently to handle the boat. As soon as the order to get underway has been given, the boats concerned shall make for the appointed harbour immediately. Failure to comply with this request shall mean that the boat will be excluded from the regatta, without prejudice to any action in criminal and civil law in the event of an accident.
